"Toroweap" is part of a two-painting series about the value of natural resources in unexpected places. Toroweap is the name of the well-known Grand Canyon overlook depicted in this painting. Because the waters of the Colorado River are a water source for so many western communities, I used the rainbow-like arches of the piece that seem to draw from the Colorado River to symbolize the high import of this valuable resource.
